GratiTuesday #4

Finding the positives in every day.

Tuesday March 3, 2015 - Holy smokes. The mid-season premiere of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was SO SO GOOD. Thinking back to the beginning of the series and how far it's come, I feel sad for the people who gave up on it early in the first season. It's really found it's groove.

Wednesday March 4, 2015 - After dinner my mom & I went to my sister's house to watch some Say Yes to the Dress Canada and talk about the hair & makeup quotes for *her* wedding. Woo!

Thursday March 5, 2015 - Got to leave work a bit early with some other people from the office to go out of town for a hockey game. And I accidentally got a buzz on. A couple drinks on the bus... A couple drinks in the suite at the arena... I'm not a hockey fan but it was definitely a lot of fun. And the pizza & wings were pretty great too.

Friday March 6, 2015 - My sister and I went to a Scentsy/Velata open house. I may have impulse bought a crepe maker & a fondue warmer....

Saturday March 7, 2015 - BAD DAY ALERT! The highlight was definitely spending the evening with my family. My sister and I went over to my parent's place and we ordered some Boston Pizza takeout.

Sunday March 8, 2015 - Bad day turns into bad weekend. Ended up going back over to my parent's and my mom & I started watching Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. If there was ever a show to pull a person out of a funk THIS IS IT. I am in LOVE.

Monday March 9, 2015 - NO COAT! Ok, so it was only +2 outside but it's SO SUNNY so I will take it! I went all afternoon with just a hoodie and no coat and life is beautiful. Also, today was Day 1 gathering for my D&D group! Spent the evening creating our characters for the campaign. I am too excited about this.

Advent Movie Challenge.

I. LOVE. CHRISTMAS SPECIALS.

I love them so much that this season I decided that I would watch a Christmas movie or TV special every day from December 1st to December 25. And I actually did it!

I figured I'd let the TV schedule dictate what I would watch what day, and if there was no special on or a special I had already watched I would draw a title at random out of a jar. A jar I filled with slips of paper with the names of about 27 different Christmas specials. Yeah. I took this seriously.

Unfortunately, this method prevented me from FINALLY watching Scrooged or Die Hard. When I do this again next year, I think I'll just start with those two.

Here's what I watched!

  1. A Muppet Family Christmas
  2. A Charlie Brown Christmas
  3. Toy Story That Time Forgot
  4. AD/BC
  5. Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer
  6. Frosty the Snowman
  7. Pioneer Woman's Cowboy Christmas
  8. Great Christmas Light Fight
  9. Santa Claus is Coming to Town
  10. Jamie's Cracking Christmas
  11. Nativity!
  12. Radio City Christmas Spectacular
  13.  Nativity 2: Danger in the Manger
  14. Holiday Baking Championship
  15. MasterChef Canada: A Holiday Special
  16. Elf: Buddy's Musical Christmas
  17. Elf
  18. A Garfield Christmas Special
  19. The Grinch Who Stole Christmas (1966)
  20. He-Man & She-Ra: A Christmas Special
  21. The Wiggles: Go Santa Go
  22. White Christmas
  23. Merry Christmas Mr.Bean
  24. Would I Lie to You at Christmas
  25. Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade

Wish I Was Wearing Wednesday: Mercury

If you know me at all you know how much I love dressing up, so it's no surprise that as I waited out the 2 1/2 hour process of getting my hair bleached and blued, my mind wandered to the glorious options now open to me for COSPLAYING.

I have a love/hate relationship with wigs. I LOVE them most of the time, but wearing them at conventions, especially in the summer, makes my head itchy and hot and makes me generally irritated.

I thought of how much my Ramona Flowers costume a few years back would have looked with my new hair.

Then I thought SAILOR MERCURY! I have recently started re-watching the Sailor Moon anime from the beginning and a few months ago I picked up my first Sailor Moon manga so the Sailor Scouts were fresh in my mind.

I like this little Disneybound-style outfit so much I may actually try to put it together for myself as a casual convention option for the future!
